THE ZODIAC
Astrologers employ the Zodiac, a stable background or plane of reference, to precisely identify these placements and groupings. The Ecliptic, which is the approximate route of the Earth and Planets in their orbit around the Sun, is in the same plane as the Zodiacal Circle. As a result, the Zodiac is nothing more than the Ecliptic extended infinitely into space.
These twelve equal sections or divisions of the Zodiac are called the Signs of the Zodiac and are named and numbered as follows:
