Basic concept of Astrology
The science of astrology is concerned with the observation of the relative locations of various bodies and points in the skies in respect to the earth, as well as the correspondences between these relative positions and occurrences on Earth. It is undeniable that such correspondences occur. Modern scientific experiments and observation might easily corroborate and verify the ancient scientists' results. It isn't always the case that the planets and stars themselves influence or cause such events. It's enough to know that various constellations or groups of stars or planets in respect to the earth connect to specific types of happenings on the planet.
Hindu Astrologers developed a rational technique based on five primary variables to make the necessary observations and convert these findings into terms of connection with events occurring on the Earth, both physical and psychological.
- Zodiac - The fixed background of the Zodiac to which all celestial bodies are referred. This background is separated into twelve sections that are all the same size.
- Asterisms - Subdivisions of the Fixed Background or Zodiac into smaller areas delineated by Fixed Stars.
- The Solar System - The Sun, the Moon, and the planets that make up our own Solar System, along with the Earth. The motions of these bodies within the Fixed Background and in reference to the Earth from point to point.
- The Houses - Imaginative space divisions that radiate vertically from any point on the Earth's surface, marking forth divisions of space traversed by this point during each twenty-four hour as the Earth spins on its own axis.
- Time - Any point in time when an event occurs.
THE ZODIAC
Astrologers employ the Zodiac, a stable background or plane of reference, to precisely identify these placements and groupings. The Ecliptic, which is the approximate route of the Earth and Planets in their orbit around the Sun, is in the same plane as the Zodiacal Circle. As a result, the Zodiac is nothing more than the Ecliptic extended infinitely into space.
These twelve equal sections or divisions of the Zodiac are called the Signs of the Zodiac and are named and numbered as follows:

THE ASTERISMS or NAKSHTRA
Many variations were detected by the ancient Astronomers inside the 30-degree zones marked out by the Zodiac. As a result, each of the twelve parts or Signs of the Zodiac had to be subdivided. They split the Zodiacal Background into 27 pieces using the belt of Fixed Stars that encircles the Earth at the Equator as markers, with the boundary of each section designated by a specific Fixed Star near the Zodiacal belt. The Asterisms or Nakshatras are the names for these portions.
They all start at the same location in the constellation Aries, which marks the beginning of the Zodiac, and because each one spans an arc of 13 deg-20', there are twenty-seven of them in the entire 360-degree circle.
PLANETS
All of the variables or moving points employed in Astrology are linked to the Zodiac and Asterisms as a fixed background. A kind of stage set against which the drama of our solar system unfolds.
